our first meeting
was unexpected
days lengthening to our names
learning about who we are
and how time moves on

walking across fields
blushing with light
grasses shedding their seeds
and us holding hands
as if it was something

forces us to start again

a continent away
and the stilled silence of boarding
where the promise of summer
drains away in October storms
along with the hope
of what could have been
